What lasts

What compounds is not the sensor. It is the bidirectional causal data the sensor generates.

Reading brain activity only shows correlation. A read-only interface captures neither the intervention nor its effect. Writing to a circuit and reading its response shows causation because you control the stimulus and observe the response. Each sensor does both, so every deployment adds to the causal record, and causal data is the only kind that can ground a real model of cognition.
